The moat

Infront of the Augustinian-tower and the city wall the moat was situated. With an initial width of about 14.7 meters and a depth of 7.3 meters, it could be documented in a profile. It is at least a two-phase ditch. From written sources it is known that the threat of attack by the Turks in Vienna in 1528 led to clean the moat of debris that had accumulated, and at the same time to to deepen it slightly.
