VIAS, the interdisciplinary research platform for Archaeological Science of the University of Vienna has an own department for Geophysical Prospection, Geodesy and Photogrammetry. Actually its activities are focused on research on the development and application of magnetic prospection in archaeology, the application of ground penetrating radar (GPR), terrestrial 3D Laser Scannning, GIS-based integrated interpretation of archaeological prospection data, virtual reality and archaeological stratigraphy. 

VIAS-Geo is cooperation partner of the new Ludwig Boltzmann Institute for Archaeological Prospection and Virtual Archaeology, directed by Wolfgang Neubauer
